From cover charge questions to when exactly our Biergarten is open, we get a lot of different questions here at Plattduetsche. That’s why we hope this list of frequently asked questions will help clear up any confusion.

HOW DO I USE CONTACTLESS ORDERING AND PAYMENT?

It’s easy! Follow these simple steps to order your meal using contactless ordering and paying at the table:

  1. Scan the QR code on your table with your smart phone or tablet which will launch the menu automatically.
  2. Choose all the food and beverages you’d like to order.
  3. Pay for your order and tip on the app using a credit card.
  4. Your order will automatically be submitted to the kitchen and bar and a member of our staff will deliver it to your table when it’s ready.
  5. Need a refill? Want to order dessert after all? Just scan again and place your order using the same procedure.
  6. If you have any difficulty, please ask a staff member for assistance.

I DON’T HAVE A DEVICE THAT CAN SCAN QR CODES OR GO ONLINE, HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO ORDER?

We have set aside a small number of tables for those who prefer a more traditional dining experience with a server. Using a paper menu, you can make your selections and a member of our staff will put the order in for you.

HOW DO I SCAN THE QR CODE WITH MY PHONE?

Navigate to your phone’s camera and try to scan the code (you might have to press and hold depending on your phone model), it should automatically recognize the QR code. If not, you might need to use a QR reader, which is usually available free from the app store.

WHY DO I HAVE TO ORDER ON MY PHONE INSTEAD OF JUST GIVING YOU MY ORDER?

We set up Toast to provide contactless ordering and payment from the safety and convenience of your own device as part of our extensive protection measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you would prefer, we do have a small section of tables for people who prefer a more traditional dining experience with a server. Just let the hostess know you’d prefer to sit there when you arrive.

WILL I BE ABLE TO SELECT OPTIONS FOR MY MEAL VIA MY SMART PHONE?

Yes, for example, if you order a burger, you’ll be able to select the meat temperature (medium, well, etc.). It’s very user-friendly and will guide you through your selections. You can always ask a staff member if you have any difficulty. You can view the video here to demonstrate how easy the app is to use.

WHY ISN’T IT LETTING ME JUST ORDER BEER?

Governor Cuomo has put a regulation in place that requires you to order food with alcoholic beverages. If you’re not super hungry, try a giant pretzel or an order of our smoked Gouda mac and cheese bites. We need to comply with all state regulations in order to offer dining.

AM I GOING TO GET A RECEIPT?

Yes, you will receive a receipt via text, email or a print out for all your purchases. Please note, if you place further orders for refills or other items, those receipts will be separate from your original order receipt.

WILL IT SHOW ME A LIST OF SELECTIONS BEFORE I SUBMIT MY ORDER?

Yes, you will be able to review all of your selections and edit them if necessary before placing the order.

IF I AM PAYING THROUGH MY DEVICE, HOW DO I LEAVE A TIP?

You can provide tips through your device as well, which is a good and safe way to thank your server during this time.

DO I HAVE TO FILL OUT ALL OF MY INFORMATION EVERY TIME I ORDER SOMETHING?

Our POS system provides the option for you to save your name and credit card information to make future orders easier. Your info is safe, Toast (POS service) does not sell or share info with third parties.

I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A MENU ITEM, HOW DO I GET ANSWERS BEFORE ORDERING?

There will be staff members available to answer questions about the menu and assist with any difficulties you may have using contactless ordering and payment.

HOW DOES TAKE-OUT WORK WITH CONTACTLESS ORDERING & PAYMENT?

You would simply click the link on our website to Order Online and it will automatically take you to the menu for ordering. You’ll be able to review everything before placing your final order and paying. You can also download the Toast app to your phone. Please come to the rear entrance to the Biergarten near the fields to pick up your take-out order. You will need to wear a mask.

ARE YOU OPEN FOR DINING?

Yes, we are open for outdoor dining in the Biergarten (weather permitting) for parties up to 10 people and have taken many steps including providing six feet between tables, requiring masks except at the tables, sanitizing surfaces, socially distancing lines for entry and the restrooms, using disposable serve ware and providing our staff with masks, visors and gloves. Please use the rear entrance to the Biergarten near the soccer fields to access the outdoor dining.

DO YOU NEED A RESERVATION?

We are not taking reservations at this time, it’s first come, first served. There is a 2 ½ hour limit to tables to be fair to everyone. You may have up to 10 people at your table.

DO I NEED A MASK?

Yes, you must have a mask or face covering to enter the premises. While seated at your table, you can remove it, but it must be on if you go to the restroom or are entering or leaving the Biergarten. You should also note that there is no smoking in the Biergarten at this time.

WHAT OTHER PRECAUTIONS HAVE YOU TAKEN TO MAKE IT SAFE TO DINE?

Every guest will have their temperature checked at the gate, if it is over 99 degrees, you will not be granted entry. Guests must also answer a few questions before entering about their exposure and whether they have had symptoms. Tables have been placed six feet apart in every direction and are sanitized before and after each party. Restrooms are also sanitized between each use along with high-touch surfaces. Lines for entry and restrooms are marked for social distancing. All our staff are wearing masks, face visors and gloves and have been instructed in proper sanitizing and hygiene techniques. All beverages and food are served in single-use disposable containers. You must remain at your table for the duration of your visit except to use the restroom or leave and you must be wearing a mask if you are not seated at your table. We are also using contactless order and payment via a QR code at your table.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A DEVICE THAT CAN SCAN A QR CODE?

We have a small section of tables set aside for those who would prefer a more traditional experience with a staff member. You can use a paper menu to make your selections and a member of our wait staff will put the order in for you.

IS THE FULL MENU AVAILABLE?

At this time, we have a limited menu you can access here to be sure we can serve everyone with our usual level of care and the additional safety measures. This is the same menu that is available for take-out. We are also offering beer, wine and specialty cocktails, including our new frozen signature drinks. Due to a regulation put into place by Governor Cuomo, you must order food with alcoholic beverages.

HOW DOES TAKE-OUT WORK?

You can order and pay from our website or on the Toast app and then come to the rear of the Biergarten to pick it up. You must wear a mask. Please note that available take-out items are on the same limited menu we are using for outdoor dining.

CAN I GET A TABLE INSIDE?

Right now, we are only open for outdoor dining from 12-8 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 12-10 pm Friday and Saturday in the Biergarten, weather permitting.

IS THERE LIVE MUSIC?

We do have a weekly line-up of acoustic artists, duos and trios that you can see on the calendar page and on our Facebook page. We ask that you enjoy the music from your table to protect the health and safety of our musicians.

CAN I JUST GRAB A BEER AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC?

Unfortunately, social distancing rules prevent us from having any areas for people to congregate in right now. We are only offering table seating in the Biergarten for 2 ½ hours for each party. Please also note that Governor Cuomo has put a regulation in place that requires patrons to order food with alcoholic beverages.

I HAVE A GROUP OF 15 PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKE TO COME DOWN, CAN WE GET TWO TABLES TOGETHER?

NYS guidelines allow us to seat up to 10 people at one socially distanced table. You can split your party into two groups, but we can’t allow intermingling between the two tables. While we understand this may be an inconvenience, we are following strict protocols from the state so that we can slowly return to a more normal way of doing business. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.

CAN YOU MAKE A RESERVATION FOR THE BEER HALL?

You can make a reservation for the upstairs Beer Hall restaurant with waitress service. If you have a very large group, you might not be able to be accommodated at one table. Reservations are taken in two-hour intervals on a first-come, first-served basis. At the end of your dining experience, you are free to spend time downstairs listening to the live music or ordering drinks at the bar, but you must vacate your upstairs table. This policy ensures that we are able to serve patrons fairly while providing a high level of service.

Once you are seated, please order your food and drinks from the server and remain at your table for the duration of your dining experience in order to receive the best service from our wait staff. During nicer weather, it’s especially a good idea to make a reservation ahead of time. Please note that we cannot guarantee seating near the band due to space restrictions. Downstairs, the private dining room is available for reservations of a minimum of 18 people and a maximum of 25, but you must either spend $35 per person on drinks and food or pay a room charge. The wooden picnic tables in the Beer Hall can only be reserved for catering parties that are held in the public space.

We do not accept reservations for those tables from individuals. Likewise, outside picnic tables in the Biergarten can only be reserved for catering parties held in the public space. WHEN IS THE BIERGARTEN OPEN?

The Beer Hall and Biergarten are open year-round on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The hours depend on the time of year and weather conditions. During the warmer months, the Biergarten opens at 3 p.m. on Fridays and 12 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. In the winter, the Biergarten opens at 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 12 p.m. on Sundays. It’s usually a good idea to call ahead and check the opening time in the spring and late fall.

CAN I GET TABLE SERVICE IN THE BIERGARTEN OR DOWNSTAIRS IN THE BEER HALL?

Yes, you can order drinks and food from our Brathaus menu from a server downstairs in the Beer Hall and at designated tables outside in nicer weather. If you prefer to just walk up to the Brathaus and order food, that’s another option. Alcoholic beverages can only be ordered from the bars, but soda and water are available at the Brathaus.

CAN YOU RESERVE THE BEER HALL AND/OR BIERGARTEN FOR A PRIVATE EVENT, LIKE A WEDDING OR CORPORATE MEETING?

Yes, you can reserve the Beer Hall and/or Biergarten for a private event. On Saturday and Sunday, the Biergarten is available between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. with a minimum of 250 guests. You can also choose a picnic-style event on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with a minimum of 100 guests. I DON’T HAVE THOSE MINIMUM GUARANTEES; CAN I STILL HAVE A PARTY IN THE BEER HALL OR BIERGARTEN?

We do offer catering packages with smaller guarantees while the Biergarten is open to the public. Please contact one of our catering specialists at (516) 354-3131 for complete details.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR THE BIERGARTEN? CAN YOU BRING CHILDREN?

Well-behaved, supervised children are always welcome in the Biergarten. We are proud that families and people of all ages enjoy our Biergarten on a regular basis. However, after 9 p.m., only those 21 and over with a valid ID will be granted entry. Anyone younger than 21 must be with a parent or guardian who is 21 or over.

WHAT ARE ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF ID?

Valid licenses or passports are accepted as ID. We do employ scanning technology, it just takes a few seconds at the gate to check you in. In order to protect our liquor license and keep the Biergarten fun for all, we ask for patience during this process. The scanners do collect some basic address data that we only use for coupons. We do not sell or share our lists with any other organization or company. However, if you do wish to opt out, please let the attendant at the gate know.

DO YOU ALLOW DOGS IN THE BIERGARTEN?

Only service dogs are permitted in the Biergarten.

WHY DO YOU HAVE BAG CHECKS?

  • We strive to always provide a safe, fun atmosphere for all our guests. Our security staff is trained to conduct bag checks upon entry to and sometimes upon exit from the Biergarten to ensure that happens.

Due to Board of Health regulations, guests are not permitted to bring in outside food and drink to the Biergarten or Beer Hall. We do offer a fairly wide-ranging menu with options for everyone, so you can find something to eat and drink while you’re here.  Our glassware and other serving ware are not available for sale or as souvenirs. Unfortunately, a few of our guests have tried to take a piece of the Plattduetsche home with them in the past. Our security staff helps ensure that all the components of a good time in the Biergarten stay here for your next visit.

CAN I PAY BY CREDIT CARD?

The Brathaus and bars in the Beer Hall only accept cash, not credit cards. There is an ATM located inside the Beer Hall. You may pay by credit card in the upstairs Beer Hall restaurant or for food and drinks ordered from a member of our waitstaff.

IS PARKING AVAILABLE?

Yes, we do have space for parking behind our Biergarten, as well as on the side of Renken Boulevard that is closest to the Biergarten. Please be mindful of our residential neighbors and obey the posted signs regarding parking in the neighborhood. You will receive a ticket from the Nassau County Police Department for parking illegally.

CAN YOU ORDER ALCOHOLIC DRINKS OTHER THAN BEER?

Yes, we have a fully-stocked bar in the Beer Hall along with beer and wine selections.

CAN YOU ORDER FOOD AT THE BAR?

Yes, you can order food at the bar during the winter months. However, during summer months when the Brathaus is open, food must be ordered from there.

WHY DOES THE LIVE MUSIC START AND END SO EARLY?

We are located in the middle of a residential neighborhood and always try to be respectful of our neighbors. Due to noise ordinances, the live music must be finished by a specific time, so our bands play earlier in the Biergarten than they do at other venues. A benefit is that many of our customers with families appreciate the opportunity to see live music that starts around 6:30 to 7 p.m.

WHEN IS SUNDAY BRUNCH?

Sunday brunch is always on the last Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except when noted otherwise on our calendar of events). The cost is $22.95 per person and $11.95 for kids 12 and under (plus tax and gratuity). It’s a good idea to make a reservation since the brunch is very popular.

MY BAND WOULD LIKE TO PLAY IN THE BIERGARTEN, HOW CAN I BOOK THAT?

Since we get many requests from bands each week, the best way to introduce yourself is to email a link to a video of your band plus a demo or press kit to entertainment@parkrestaurant.com. Please be aware that while we do listen to all the samples we receive, we are usually quite booked up. If we like what we hear and see, you’ll hear from us about a potential date in the future.

IF I BOOK ONE OF THE PRIVATE PARTIES WITHIN THE PUBLIC SPACE OR A RESERVATION TO HAVE DINNER FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION, CAN I BRING BALLOONS, DECORATIONS OR A CAKE?

No balloons are allowed in the Beer Hall, but other decorations can be worked out with our catering specialists before your event or reservation. No outside food or drink is permitted in the Beer Hall or Biergarten due to Board of Health regulations.You will be asked to put any outside food in your car during your visit. We can order a cake for you with advanced notice if you’d like.

IS THERE A COVER CHARGE?

There is a $5 cover charge on certain nights. These are all listed on our events page, as well as on our Facebook and Instagram pages. You will receive a cover charge payback coupon on these nights that allows you to take $5 off your meal in our main dining room on the following Wednesday or Thursday. If we are hosting a festival or other event with an admission fee, you will have to pay the fee to enter the Biergarten that day. You can always check the events page on our website to see when those dates are scheduled. We also usually post reminders and event notices on social media pages.

NIGHTS WITH COVER CHARGES – WHAT ARE THE DETAILS?

We’ve instituted a $5 cover charge for certain nights in the Beer Hall/Biergarten from 5 p.m. until the band is finished playing. You will receive a special offer to recoup your cover charge with $5 off your meal on Wednesday or Thursday of the same week in our main dining room.

I HAVE A PRIVATE DINING ROOM RESERVATION ON A NIGHT WHEN THE COVER CHARGE IS IN EFFECT. WILL MY GUESTS BE CHARGED THE ADDITIONAL $5?

Yes, any night the cover charge is in effect, it applies to anyone entering the Beer Hall between 5 p.m. and when the band finishes playing. You are welcome to spend time after your meal enjoying the band, of course.

I’VE SEEN THIS BAND BEFORE AT THE PLATTDUETSCHE AND DIDN’T PAY A COVER CHARGE. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY IT NOW?

Most, if not all, local venues charge a cover when bands are playing. While we have resisted doing so for a long time, we feel it is necessary to institute a small cover charge in order to bring you great live music and ensure everyone has a pleasant experience. Everyone who pays the cover will also receive a special offer to take $5 off a meal in our main dining room on Wednesday or Thursday of that week.

I’M HOSTING A CATERED EVENT IN THE MAIN BUILDING, BUT SOME OF MY GUESTS WANT TO GO TO THE BIERGARTEN AFTERWARDS. DO THEY HAVE TO PAY THE COVER CHARGE?

Yes, anyone entering the Biergarten/Beer Hall between 5 p.m. and when the band finishes playing on a night where there is a cover charge needs to pay the $5. Everyone will receive the cover charge payback coupon for $5 off a meal in the main dining room on Wednesday or Thursday of that week.

I AM HAVING A BRACELET PARTY ON A NIGHT WITH A COVER CHARGE, WILL MY GUESTS BE CHARGED THE EXTRA $5?

No, the cost of catering a bracelet party includes the cover charge. You will, however, have to provide a list of your guest’s names ahead of time so we can properly check them in upon arrival.

I’M EATING IN THE BEER HALL RESTAURANT UPSTAIRS, DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY THE $5 COVER CHARGE?

Yes, any night the cover charge is in effect, it applies to anyone entering the Beer Hall between 5 p.m. and when the band finishes playing. You are welcome to spend time downstairs after your meal enjoying the band, of course.
